Summer jobs in social psychiatry

At the Ekbacken and Krontorp residential homes in Mariestad

About the workplace
The social psychiatry unit in Mariestad municipality runs two residential facilities for people with mental health issues, Ekbacken and Krontorp. We are now looking for a number of positive and trustworthy summer workers for these facilities.

Do you want to make a difference for people with mental health issues? Do you have experience in care work? Are you a supportive person who can also set boundaries? Then you could be one of the summer workers we’re looking for!

Job description
The role at both Ekbacken and Krontorp involves carrying out assessments, providing support and offering encouragement to help individuals develop their own resources for an independent life and active participation in society.

You must be able to meet the individual where they are and understand the difficulties they may face. You must be able to make independent decisions and resolve different situations based on each individual’s circumstances.

Together with the individual, you will plan and structure their daily routine, leisure time and activities. The role, based primarily at Ekbacken, also involves care-related tasks such as assisting with personal hygiene, dressing and undressing, mealtimes, etc.

The service aims to collaborate with, among others, relatives, the health and social care sector and stakeholders in the labour market.

Qualifications
To be suitable for Ekbacken and Krontorp, it is advantageous if you have a nursing qualification with a specialisation in psychiatry. It is also advantageous if you are currently studying for, or have completed, a post-secondary qualification as a social pedagogue or in behavioural science.

Previous experience of working with people suffering from mental health issues, as well as experience of working in a low-affect manner, is considered a strong advantage. Previous nursing experience is also an advantage.

We are looking for someone who can work independently whilst also being able to collaborate easily with colleagues, care staff, nurses and others. You should be confident in yourself and have a calm and steady approach.

As we have two residential homes, we will prioritise temporary staff who can be flexible and work across both sites, and who enjoy working with both older and younger residents. We will also prioritise those who can work irregular hours, as we operate during the day, in the evening, at weekends, at night and on on-call duty.

A driving licence is required.

We process applications on an ongoing basis, which means that interviews may take place before the closing date. When you apply, please provide a CV detailing your previous experience. You do not need to include a personal statement; instead, you will be asked to answer a few screening questions. We place great emphasis on personal qualities and good references.

We look forward to receiving your application!
